Parents group hits out at school that says students will be sent home if they're not wearing correct uniform
SPARK Ireland, which supports single parents, says a note was sent out by a school stating flat black shoes must be worn as well as the full uniform, including a jacket.
The note states the school appreciates the challenges this presents given that shops have been closed.
Parenting expert and author Jen Hogan says she's surprised to see the note, as many schools are being flexible during the pandemic:
"It had been widely reported about the difficulties of getting pieces of uniform, even if you tried to order online, there's a lot of sizes out of stock. Obviously kids have grown over the course of the pandemic. Everybody's looking for uniforms at the same time and the shoes have been huge issue, the shoes have continued to be a huge issue."
