Parents of Cork school launch crowd funding campaign

Parents frustrated by a lack of action from the Dept of Education have launched a €200,000 crowd funding campaign to improve conditions at a Special School in Cork.

St. Gabriel's Special School in Bishopstown caters for over 40 children aged from 4 to 18  with severe and profound learning difficulties.

Parents and staff say the school is in urgent need of refurbishment and may even need to be totally rebuilt in order to ensure a safe and suitable learning environment.

Sinead Desmond is the chair of the Parents association at the school. She told RedFM news that staff have been fighting for the money needed to upgrade the school for some time:
