Parts Of Cork Could Be Without Power Until The Weekend

At peak during Storm Ophelia the number off the power grid was nearly double that of Storm Darwin
The ESB is warning that some customers across Cork could be without power until the weekend and beyond...
17,000 customers in the city are currently without supply with 30,000 in North Cork and up to 33,000 in West Cork
Engineers are currently conducting a detailed damage assessment and repair operation but at this stage say that at peak over 300,000 were off the grid while at peak during Storm Darwin there was 125,000 off the grid so the scale of the damage from Ophelia is almost double that of the last big storm to hit Cork..
Crews have been mobilised from as far north as Donegal to get customers across Cork back on the power grid
Speaking to RedFM News this morning Denis Cambridge from the ESB says their crews are currently in the middle of a significant long restoration period
