Patrick St. Closed Northbound From Today - Here's The Information You Need

Patrick St. Northbound traffic will be closed from 9:30am this morning for maintenance works.

Works to resurface the carriageways and to upgrade the pedestrian crossings on St. Patrick’s Street will commence on Tuesday 13th June 2017. Cork City Council expects these works to last until early September 2017.

These essential maintenance works are being undertaken as part of the City Centre Public Transport Improvement Scheme. It was intended to carry out these essential maintenance works last year but it was decided instead to incorporate them into the current project to ensure that all works in the city centre are co-ordinated to minimise disruption to traffic. Access to all shops and businesses will be maintained at all times.

To facilitate these works Saint Patrick’s Street northbound will be closed to all traffic from north of the junction with Daunt Square to the junction with Merchant’s Quay from 09:30hrs on Tuesday 13th June 2017 to  early September 2017 . Diversions will be in place for the duration.

Diversion Route from the West:

• Motorists travelling from the west on the N22 northbound should divert from Dyke Parade/Sheares Street junction onto Prospect Row, Grenville Place, Bachelors Quay, Kyrl’s Quay, Lavitt’s Quay, Saint Patrick’s Bridge.

Diversion from the South

• Motorists travelling from George’s Quay northbound should divert from Parliament Street /South Mall junction onto South Mall, Parnell Place, Merchant’s Quay, Saint Patrick’s Bridge.

• Motorists travelling from Bishop Street northbound should divert along Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Saint Finbarre’s Bridge, Woods Street, Prospect Row, Grenville Place, Bachelor’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay, Lavitt’s Quay, Saint Patrick’s Bridge.

Local access will be maintained through Daunt Square for the duration of the works.

Bus Routes 205, 207 & 208 northbound shall operate from a temporary stop outside 89/90 South Mall.

A temporary north bound taxi rank will be provided on Bowling Green Street.

Some disruption is expected, particularly during the early stages of the works, as road users adapt to the restrictions and to the new diversions.  We would ask that motorists pay particular attention to the sign posted diversions and allow some extra time for their journey.
