Penneys set to expand their flagship City Centre store
The Irish Examiner reports that it's hoped the move will provide a boost following a number of high-profile closures in the past year.
The expansion is subject to approval, but if given the green light would see the footprint of the store increase to 54,000 sq ft.
Penney's have confirmed that the store will remain open during the phased expansion to the neighbouring buildings.
The fast fashion retailer have partnered with the O'Flynn Group for the project.
It's been a difficult year for retail in the city centre. Stores such as Debenhams, Topman, Evans and Dorothy Perkins have shut their doors due to the impact of the pandemic on retail, leaving hundreds of people out of work.
Clarks and Oasis have also closed their Patrick Street stores in recent months.
