People asked to be careful when visiting forests and woodlands this weekend

Over one million euro was spent clearing up after forest fires last year

A yellow forest fire warning is currently in place until the end of September.

Coilte National Safety Manager Mick Power says they love visitors but they want people to act responsibly:

"I would expect given the long weekend that's upon us that a lot of people would be anxious to get out. And we advise everybody to come to the forest, you know, for a picnic or a walk or whatever it is. A lot of people have discovered the forest over the lockdown their local forest and that has to offer, and we want to see that to continue. And we invite everybody in with open arms, and are we asked him to do is to mind what they're doing."
