Cork TD calls on Minister for Education to intervene and allocated a permanent building to Owenabue Educate Together National School

The permanent building promised to Owenabue Educate Together National School has instead been allocated to a new special school in Carrigaline

Under the original plan the school was due to relocate to the current Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighin building.

Management at the Educate Together school say they're seeking engaging with the Department of Education on a new solution for permanent accommodation as well as short-term accommodation options for the coming school year.

Speaking to RedFM News Cork TD Donnchadh O'Laoighre says the situation needs to be resolved:

"Now I hope that this will be resolved for September, I am calling on the minister and the government to address this urgently. And we also need a longer term solution as well because that hasn't been put in place to the school, but it is absolutely urgent, and indeed, you know that is was hoping to establish unions, so those parents who were hoping to get that job interview, they will now be anxious so we needed a solution here and the department needs to resolve it."
