Pet owners advised to keep pets indoors during Halloween celebrations

The ISPCA says animals can find Halloween to be distressing

Leave the dogs out of the trick-or-treating celebrations tonight.

That's the advice from the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals, who say pets do not understand what is going on and can find the Holiday very distressing.

They're asking pet owners to make sure their animals are kept safely inside when children are calling to the doors, so they cannot react negatively to scary costumes.

The ISPCA have also asked people not to put pet costumes on dogs, unless they know their animal is really comfortable in them.

Speaking to RedFM news Senior Inspector Lisa O'Donovan says if people are putting costumes on animals, they must be kept away from any flammable item.
