Petition Mounted Seeking Assurances That Bantry General Won't Lose It's 24 hour Acute Medical Cover

Doctors in West Cork along with the local community are rallying together

Doctors in West Cork along with the local community are rallying together amid fears that the hospital could lose it's acute status which would mean it wouldn't be able to handle emergency ambulances with patients instead being transferred to Cork University Hospital

The HSE say there are no plans to downgrade Bantry to a model 2 hospital but doctors have described that statement as a "fudge" and say lives will be lost in West Cork if the hospital is downgraded.

Speaking to RedFM News Dr Gietta Wieneke of the Bantry based Marino Medical centre says all they want is a clear answer from the HSE on the hospital's future
