Plain pack cigarettes to be introduced in Ireland next year

Ireland is to become the second country in the world to introduce plain pack cigarettes. From next year tobacco companies must use plain packets of a uniform colour without logos or branding. All packs will still carry graphic pictures of the health impacts of smoking. The plain packets - which were introduced in Australia last year - will come into force in 2014.
