Planned incinerator for Ringaskiddy back in the spotlight
The oral hearing is set to get underway later this month.
CHASE have hit out at An Bord Pleanala's refusal to deny their request for an extension to the Oral Hearing date for the incinerator planned for Ringaskiddy.
Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment say two weeks is not enough time for those opposed to the facility to prepare for the hearing which is due to get underway on April 19th.
The waste facility planned by Indaver has been met with stiff opposition from the local community with concerns expressed over health and safety as well as conflict with regeneration in the area.
Indaver has moved to allay fears and says that the development is needed as Ireland needs to manage its own waste instead of exporting it.
Speaking to RedFM News, Indaver's Managing Director John Ahern says despite the opposition, the final decision is out of their hands:
