Planning documents for a 25 storey tower on Albert Quay in the city have been lodged with An Bord Pleanála. 

The 200-apartment tower is to be built on the site of the former Sextan Bar. 

A request for a consultation from the planning board has already been made , which allows developers to bypass local authorities for projects exceeding 100 homes. 

The Echo reports that an outcome is expected by September 26th
