Planning For Cork's Promised Light Rail System Is To Begin Next Month

This afternoon at an event in the city the National Transport Authority published the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy
It sets out the planning and delivery of transport infrastructure and service over the next two decades
A €1 billion light rail system for Cork, linking Ballincollig and Mahon Point through the city centre, is an integral part of the €3.5 billion transport plan
Efforts to identify route options for the proposed light rail network are set to begin next month
The final blueprint of the transport strategy also includes plans for eight new railway stations and 100km of bus lanes
