Planning on Cork - Limerick motorway to restart

The Transport Minister has confirmed the planning process for the Cork - Limerick motorway is to re-start.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has been given the go-ahead for stage one of planning to begin for the M20 motorway, with  traffic and environmental studies to be undertaken at a cost of €1 million euro.

This comes just one month after the Finance Minister said work on the motorway wasn't feasible due to a lack of money.

In October Michael Noonan said the total cost of the project would be around €1 billion euro, and the total for the Capital programme for roads is only €700 million.

Speaking to RedFM News Cork TD Michael McGrath says the motorway project must be included in the revised Captial plan for next year:
