Long awaited plans for a helipad at Cork University Hospital are reportedly set to progress to design and planning stages.
The Irish Examiner reports that a car park in the north east of the hospital campus has been selected for the facility.
It's understood that €1.8m in funding is in place for the project and a team is now being put together to begin design work on the project including an enclosed corridor link to the hospital’s emergency department.
The planning application is expected to be lodged with Cork City Council before the end of the year and it's hoped construction could start as early as 2017 if the plans are given the green light.
