Points inflation continues as students receive CAO first round offers

Over 50,000 students are getting their first-round offers from the CAO this morning - the highest number ever. Early indications suggest that the points inflation continues - after record numbers got bonus points for taking honours maths. Half of the applicants are expected to get their first choice, while one in three will get one of their top three. Experts are warning that there's a crisis facing third level colleges - with an additional 22,000 students appearing in the system over the next ten years. AUDIO: Education correspondent with the Irish Times Brian Mooney says even with these options the young in Ireland are still seeking opportunities overseas. Click the PLAY button above to hear.
