Postmasters call for Government support
Postmasters want the Government to pay them for providing 'offline' services to customers.
The Irish Postmasters' Union says this would keep hundreds of struggling post offices across the country open.
It says the Post Office Network would give people the option of person-to person access to services like licences and identity verification.
IPU General Secretary, Ned O'Hara says more people need them during the pandemic.
"I think that Covid-19 has highlighted that a significant number of people are not online at the moment, and there are a lot of people who require the Post Office network to access Government services.
"The Government has an opportunity in this plan for offline services to not only secure the post office network, but support vital services for the community at a small enough investment."
