Potential house buyers advised to study the market before purchasing

Potential house buyers are being advised to play the long game if at all possible.

That's the advice from Charlie Weston, personal finance editor with the Irish Independent who is warning that the housing market is over-heating rapidly..

Last week he revealed that there are more people given mortgage approval than there are new houses for them to buy.

Around 20,000 first time buyers have been cleared for a mortgage this year -  but only half of this number of new homes are for sale.

House prices are rising at a rate of about 10% and not enough houses are being built to meet supply..

Speaking to RedFM News Charlie Weston has this advice for people trying to get their foot on the property ladder
