Prendergast shocked after being spat at in Cork
A Labour Party MEP has spoken of her shock after being spat at into the face on a visit to Cork. Phil Prendergast was walking through the city centre last Wednesday when she was approached by a person who called her “Labour scum”. The assailant then proceeded to spit phlegm in her eye. The 54-year-old is now awaiting test results over fears for the transmission of disease through the mucus membrane in the eye. Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show, Phil Prendergast says she felt physically sick after the incident: Click the PLAY button above to hear.
