Preparations To "Brexit-proof" Cork Are Continuing
Brittany Ferries today announced the introduction of a new winter sailing schedule designed to facilitate freight traffic between Ireland and Spain.
It follows the launch of its Cork to Santander route earlier this year which has seen nearly 2,600 freight units carried to date with operators reporting an increase in demand in the last month.
Port of Cork say with Brexit looming the option for freight carriers to bypass the UK land bridge will be even more attractive.
Speaking to RedFM News Conor Healy of Cork Chamber of Commerce says while it's difficult to prepare for Brexit when there are so many unknowns, work can be done in advance:
