Speaking to mark International Workers' Day, Michael D Higgins says carers have been undervalued by society for too long, and must be seen as essential workers
He has also praised the efforts of frontline workers during the pandemic and has called for a post Covid-19 society "based on solidarity, care, compassion, kindness and above all equality".
