Protest against rent review to get underway outside City Hall

The protest is calling for the cancellation of the current rent review.

A protest is due to get underway in the next hour outside City Hall calling for the cancellation of the current Rent Review.

The protest has been organised by the Tenants Rights Association after concerns were expressed by tenants who say they were asked for their PPS numbers and threatened with a €100 monthly rent hike if they didn't cooperate fully with the review.

City Hall have since moved to the defend the review and said the requirements were standard practice and say updated information could result in rent reductions for some tenants.

However City Council are now being called upon to restart the review and speaking to RedFM News Diarmaid Ó Cadhla of the Tenants Rights Association says he hopes they'll table an emergency motion to scrap the review:
