Protest calling for the end of Direct Provision centres
A protest calling for the end of Direct Provision accommodation centres is marching on the Department of Justice this afternoon. Asylum seekers from two centres in Cork have joined the national campaign which aims to highlight the length of time some residents have been living in direct provision with no access to work or education and no answer on their citizenship status. Meanwhile an event to raise awareness about the issue is taking in place in CIT next Wednesday following protests by asylum seekers at Ashbourne House in Glounthaune and at the Kinsale Road facility in September. Speaking to RedFM News Philip Hughes of the 'Live in Limbo, What Now' event says it's vital that this problem gets the attention it needs in society: Click PLAY to hear audio
