Protest takes place outside City Hall

The rally was staged over the housing crisis.

A protest took place outside City Hall this evening on the housing crisis.

The rally organised by Sinn Féin members of Cork City Council took place ahead of tonight's meeting of the local authority.

A number of councillors have signed a motion calling for immediate action to tackle the issue which is expected to be debated by the council.

Thousands are still on the social housing waiting list in the city and a Cork charity for the homeless say they saw an increase of 21% in the numbers accessing their services in 2015.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cork Simon's Paul Sheehan says the current measures are not working.
