Protesters take to the streets in Ringaskiddy over proposed incinerator

Lecturers and students from the National Maritime College staged the rally

Around 100 protesters have braved the poor weather conditions to march through Ringaskiddy this afternoon in opposition to the planned incinerator for their area. 

Lecturers and students from the National Maritime College are staging the rally and are being supported by members of the local community. 

They claim the facility planned by waste management company Indaver will be just 20 metres from the entrance to the college and they have raised health and safety concerns about its location. 

The rally comes despite Indaver's move to try and alleviate locals fears and ahead of the deadline for objections to the planned development which is is next week.
