Public Servants Are In Line For A Pay Rise Next Year

It's under a new two-year agreement reached with trade unions
The proposed deal will replace the Public Service Stability agreement, which expires at the end of this month.
Eimear McKeown has this report for RedFM News:
'The proposals were outlined at a meeting of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions' Public Services Committee, after talks at the Workplace Relations Commission ended in the early hours of this morning. They include two one per cent pay increases - worth 500 euro - one in October of next year, with the second pay rise in October 2022. Unions say this would mean public servants on lower incomes will receive a significantly larger percentage increase than higher paid staff. There will also be the potential for a further 1 per cent rise in February 2022 - however, this will be based on sectoral bargaining. The package includes commitments to establish an independent body to in March to begin the process of returning to pre-Haddington Road hours, and to resolve issues surrounding pay for entrant teachers. And overtime and premium payments will return to pre-2013 levels. The deal, if ratified by members in a union ballot, will run from January 1st next year until December 31st 2022.'
