Public urged to engage on new charge to replace the TV licence

The public is being encouraged to have its say on the new charge replacing the TV Licence. The Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte has published a consultation paper on the Public Service Broadcasting Charge. The fee will apply to all households and businesses where people access TV - regardless of the device they use. Meanwhile, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland is this morning launching a separate consultation on its new draft strategy.
