Question mark over new events centre for Cork

A member of the Support the Brewery Quarter campaign has moved to allay fears that plans for a Cork events centre will not go ahead. It comes after the project encountered a stumbling block last week when operator Live Nation Ireland withdrew from the final tender stage of the process. As a result O'Callaghan Properties, one of the two main contenders for the €16 million euro state investment, decided not to submit an application before deadline last Friday. BAM Heineken Ireland, which has planning permission for the €50 million events centre as part of the wider regeneration of the former Beamish and Crawford site, now remains the only developer to submit a final tender. Paul Montgomery of the Support the Brewery Quarter campaign says he believes the issues will be resolved and Cork can still look forward to a top class events centre: Click PLAY to hear audio
