Real world locations of Pokemon Go app in Cork criticised

Important Cork monuments are being disrespected by their inclusion in the Pokemon Go phone app.

Thats according to Historian and Cork City Counciller Kieran McCarthy who says these monuments pay tribute to the dead and using them as Pokestops is inappropriate.

The monuments include the Tomas Mac Curtain monument in Blackpool and the Kerry Pike Memorial to six men who lost their lives in the Irish War of Independence.

Similar concerns have been raised in other parts of the world, with the 9/11 Memorial and the US Holocaust Memorial among the controversial locations of Pokestops.

Speaking to RedFM News Historian Kieran McCarthy says the makers of the game should incorporate information about the real life locations used in the app:
