Record figures sit Higher Level Maths

Extra bonus points are awarded to those who earn a D3 grade or higher.
A record number of leaving cert students will sit the Higher Level Maths paper today.
It's the fifth year in a row that the number of students opting for the paper has increased.
It follows changes which give an extra 25 CAO points to students who earn a D3 grade or higher.
Concern has been raised about the increase in numbers as it's feared many are only choosing the paper to gain extra points.
Speaking to RedFM News principal of Christ King secondary school and maths teacher Mary Keane says there are pros and cons for the new maths course.
