Record homeless figures published today

A record 10,300 people are now homeless in Ireland according to the latest figures for March.
It shows a 58% increase in the amount of people in emergency accommodation since the government launched its Rebuilding Ireland plan in 2016.
Homeless and addiction charity, Merchants Quay Ireland, says the figures prove the government's strategy is not working.
However on a visit to Cork Penny Dinners today Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government Damien English says "considerable efforts" are being made to help find permanent homes.
He told RedFM News that while there's a long road to go a plan is in place:
