Relief for residents after planning for Ballyvolane development is refused

An Bord Pleanála have decided not to give their stamp of approval to the application


Planning for a controversial retail development in Ballyvolane has been refused. 

RedFM News has learned that An Bord Pleanála have decided not to give their stamp of approval to the application for the  the retail unit which was due to house anchor tenant Tesco.

The planned multi-million euro project on the Fox and Hounds site split the community with concerns expressed about the increased traffic flow, noise pollution and the threat to local wildlife on the site's local bog.

Speaking to RedFM News local Councillor Ger Keohane says there's a sense of relief among many residents in the community today:
