Renewed appeal for information on disappearance of two men from Cork in 1994

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of two men feared murdered in Cork almost 25 years ago are to make an appeal tonight on Crimecall for any information that can help them find their remains to provide closure for their families.

23-year-old Cathal O'Brien from Kilmore in Wexford moved to Cork in1993 after graduating with a certificate in computer studies from Waterford Institute of Technology and arriving on Leeside, he began doing voluntary work with the Simon Community where he befriended Welsh New Age Traveller, 42-year-old Kevin Ball.

The pair disappeared from a flat at Wellington Terrace near Grattan Hill and gardai suspect that they were both murdered by local man.

That same year 32-year-old Denis Patrick 'Patch' O'Driscoll had also disappeared and local man Fred Flannery was charged with his murder however the trial collapsed and the judge put a stay on him ever being retried. Days after the collapse of the trial and 18 months after Denis Patch O'Driscoll disappeared, gardai found some of his remains in a sports gearbag buried in woodland at Lotabeg near Glanmire.

Gardaí suspect their was a link between the disappearance of Cathal O'Brien and Kevin Ball and the murder of Denis Patch O'Driscoll.

Speaking to RedFM News Supt Mick Comyns of Mayfield Garda Station says the investigation has been ongoing since their disappearance and they're hopeful this appeal might generate some new information:
