Renewed calls for Cork/Limerick motorway after recent fatalities

Funding for the proposed motorway was excluded from the government's €27 billion capital plan which was announced last year.
Renewed calls have been made for the urgent construction of a motorway between Cork and Limerick in the wake of another fatal crash on the route this week.
An elderly couple lost their lives on Tuesday evening in a collision on the N20 Cork to Limerick Road just north of Mallow General Hospital.
It follows the another recent fatality on a 73-year-old who died in a crash south of Mallow.
The incidents have sparked concern and pressure is mounting on the incoming government to make the motorway proposal a reality after it wasn't included in the €27 billion capital plan which was announced last year.
Speaking to RedFM News Chairman of Mallow development partnership John McDonnell says he believes it's of vital importance to the area:
