Rent Caps Could Be Introduced In Four Extra Areas In Cork

Housing Minister Simon Coveney is expected to unveil the new rent pressure zones shortly

Four areas across Cork could be set to see rent caps introduced in the coming weeks

Housing Minister Simon Coveney is expected to unveil the new rent pressure zones shortly following a review of prices in several counties however it's understood that Carrigaline, Ballincollig, Douglas and Rochestown have met the criteria.

Fianna Fail is to call for Rochestown, Passage West, Carrigtwohill, Midleton and Cloyne to be designated as pressure zones due to rising rents in these areas

For towns to be designated as a pressure zone the average rents has to be above the national average and prices must have increased by 7% in four of the last six quarters.
