Report into the lack of ambulance for Midleton toddler released

A HSE report into the death of a 2 year old boy in Midleton in Co Cork in May has found that Ambulance control personnel did not follow the correct procedure on receipt of a 999 call for an ambulance. This meant the child's condition was not correctly assessed. Vakaris Martinitis died from injuries sustained after he fell from an upstairs window at his home. A lack of ambulances in the area was not a factor in this case but rather the ambulance controller believed that if the child was taken to a GP he would get faster medical attention ..
