Residents in Cork City are living in fear of the fine weather

Residents living in the vicinity of a number of popular outdoor locations in the city say they're enduring sleepless nights as large crowds continue to gather in the sun in areas such as Bell's Field, The Lough, Canty's Field and Kennedy Quay.

Anti-social behavior, drinking in public, and littering are among the issues being experienced and calls are now being made for a severe crack down on these types of gatherings.

Fears are also mounting that the scenes witnessed over the weekend will lead to a spread of COVID19.

One man was arrested yesterday after gardaí attended a number of these areas, he's due to appear in court at a later stage.

Speaking to RedFM News, Councillor Ken O'Flynn says residents are living in fear of fine weather:

"people living around these public red these areas that are famous public realm areas such as Bell Field, such as Fitzgerald's Park are very obsessed with charmed by the goings on their sleeping is right, they're fearful that their bins are going to be burned out, as it's happened on previous occasions, they're fearful of the carry on. That happened on the hospital steps, where, where we had broken bottles people fighting arguing, until all hours of the morning. That's the reality of what people are going through. And that's what type of anti social behaviour is illegal all the time, not just during a pandemic."
