Residents of Clonakilty Direct Provision Centre Stage Protest After Discovering Minister's Visit

Residents of a West Cork Direct Provision Centre have called on the Minister of State for Equality, Immigration and Integration to re-visit their centre.
Around 30 residents staged a demonstration today after they discovered Minister David Stanton visited Clonakilty Lodge Direct Provision Centre without speaking to them.

Residents say they wanted the opportunity to speak with the Minister about the conditions they're living in and their citizenship applications.
The Department of Justice and Equality has confirmed that Minister Stanton did meet and speak with some residents who were present, however other residents at the Clonakilty centre say this meeting was staged and there were dozens of other residents who wanted to meet the Minister to voice their concerns.
Speaking to RedFM News this resident Shawn says they just wanted to get some answers as they're living in limbo:
