Residents Of The Lough To Submit Objections To Student Apartments Today

Residents of the Lough will today submit their objections to the proposal of a student apartment block.
The 5 block, 350 bed student accommodation planned on Parish land has been met with significant opposition by residents who say the development will have a major impact on houses, infrastructure and traffic.
A protest was mounted over the weekend by the 'Save the Lough from High Rise' campaign to highlight their opposition and to appeal to the Diocese of Cork and Ross to talk to the community.
However in a statement to RedFM News Fr Tom Deenihan says the decision to sell the piece of land by the Parish Finance Council was necessary, and the site is not subject to planning permission which is a matter for the City Council.
Speaking to RedFM News, Dr Jane O'Connor of 'Save the Lough From High Rise' campaign is encouraging people to submit their objections:
