Residents On M28 Route Say Air Pollution Is A Very Real Risk

Residents living along the planned Cork to Ringaskiddy motorway say they are suffering from respiratory problems that can be attributed to an increase in traffic along the route.
It comes as the County Council submitted a report to An Bord Pleanala’s oral hearing today which states that the construction of the M28 will have no significant adverse impact on air quality
The report also stated that the project is within World Health Organisation guidelines on the impact of traffic pollutions on human health.
The M28 steering group represents over 10,000 residents along the route and say they are exposed to high levels of traffic pollution on a daily basis which has doubled over the past 10 years.
Speaking to RedFM News M28 Steering Group co-chair Frances Murphy says they are strenuously opposed to the current route:
