Residents Oppose Proposal to Close Waterloo Junction Permanently

The junction on the N20 Cork to Limerick road has been the scene of a number of serious and fatal collisions in recent times. 

Two American tourists were killed at the junction in September 2017 after the car in which they were travelling in followed sat-nav directions to turn right for Blarney and collided with a truck. 

Another tourist was seriously injured at the junction in April following an almost identical crash.

Cork County Council are currently carrying out improvement works on the junction and say they are considering closing the junction.

A public meeting organised by residents will be held tomorrow to discuss the matter.
