Residents Seeking Removal Of Two Mobile Homes From Housing Estate In Fermoy Stage Silent Protest

A standoff between residents of Beechfield estate and members of the travelling community began last week

Residents seeking the removal of two mobile homes from a housing estate in Fermoy have taken part in a silent protest on the steps of the local council office this morning

A standoff between residents of Beechfield estate and members of the travelling community began last week when a new mobile home was moved onto a green area of the estate.

Residents claim that some members of the travelling community have been engaging in anti social behaviour in the area,
however the occupants of the mobile home reject these claims.

Cork County Council are to seek a court order to remove the mobile homes from the estate following a meeting between the head of housing at the Council and local councillors from Fermoy on Friday.

Jasmine's granparents are residents of the estate.

She told RedFM News why people have been protesting this morning
