Residents vow to step up their campaign against waste disposal facility

Locals on the city's northside are against the location of the Country Clean unit.

Residents living in the vicinity of a waste disposal facility on the northside of the city say they're planning to step up their campaign to get the complex relocated.

Country Clean have come under increasing pressure in recent weeks from residents who have been complaining about a worsening of foul odours emanating from their operations.

The company believe the odours detected are as a result of a new deodorising detergent which are part of a 4 million euro investment in improvement works at the site aimed at resolving the odour problem in the Churchfield area.

Last week an Environment Protection Agency report ranked the site as one of the top ten waste sites in the country for complaints about foul odours.

The company has apologised for any inconvenience caused and say the deodorising detergent is now no longer in use.

However speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show local resident Laura says there's been no improvement in the area.
