Cork Restaurants Finding It Difficult To Recruit Chefs

Cork Restaurants and Hotels are recruiting chefs from Eastern Europe as they cannot fill vacancies here at home.
That's according to the Restaurant's Association of Ireland who say the shortage of qualified chefs in Ireland in now at crisis point.
The Government have announced new apprenticeship proposals which the RAI say is a stepping stone in tackling the crisis, but they say re-establishing CERT - a dedicated hospitality programme - is the only real solution.
Almost 1,800 chefs qualify in Ireland each year but the organisation says there is a deficit of 5,000 trainee chefs anually.
Speaking to RedFM News RAI Chief Executive Adrian Cummins says the hospitality service has to recruit from overseas:
