Restaurants want to introduce deposits on reservations

Restaurants say they need more than a few hours notice if people want to cancel a booking.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland says it's advising members to have a booking policy in place as the issue is seriously affecting profits.

CEO Adrian Cummins says simply ringing a restaurant a few hours before isn't good enough.
