Revenue issues warning to public about phone scam

People are being warned by Revenue to be careful of a phone scam, where the caller demands payment of an overdue tax bill.

They issued the warning following several calls to the public across the country from people claiming to be from Revenue.

They are advising people that they never make such calls, and to contact their local Revenue Office immediately if they receive one.

They also advise anyone who has handed over personal information to a bogus caller to contact their bank or credit card company and alert the Gardai.
