RNLI urging people to be safe if taking to the water today
Spokesperson Owen Medland has this advice:
"Before setting out, take a minute to check the weather tides and winds to help avoid getting caught out. Leave any inflatables at home, they're designed for swimming pools and not for open water. If you're involved in recreational water sports, take a mobile telephone with you, and a waterproof pouch, and if you are or you see someone in trouble, then dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard."
