Road Safety Alert Issued As Temperatures Plummet

Gardai in the county have issued a road safety alert this morning as temperatures plummeted overnight and have led to treacherous icy road conditions.
Shortly before 5.30am this morning the emergency services were scambled after a truck left the roat at Freemount in North Cork
Fire units from Kanturk and Charleville responded to the scene along with gardai however the driver did not sustain serious injuries in that incident
Elsewhere yhe road between Fivemilebridge and Riverstick is blocked after a car skidded on ice in the area
Gardai along with the fire service have responded to the scene and the road is blocked at the moment with the gardai warning that the stretch of road is extremely icy so care is advised
A general appeal to motorists to slow down has been issued this morning as many roads in the county, particularly North Cork, have been hit with black ice
