Road Safety Authority say it's still too early to confirm reversal in the trend of road deaths in Cork

Twenty people lost their lives on Cork roads last year- an increase of 5 compared to 2019
Six pedestrians, two motorcyclists, one cyclist and 11 drivers and passengers lost their lives between the 10th of February and the 23rd of December 2020.
Three people have been killed in two fatal crashes in Cork this year, compared to ten during the same time last year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Brian Farrell from the RSA says the summer months are the most dangerous:
"We did see an unacceptable number of people being killed on our roads, Cork's roads last year, you know, three deaths in Cork this year is three deaths too many it's something we shouldn't tolerate as a society. What I think for us, the big worry is what's going to happen over the summer months because it's the summer months, that are the most dangerous months of the year on our roads."
