Road Users Reminded Summer Is Most Dangerous Time Of Year On Irish Roads

The June bank holiday weekend is one of the busiest times on our roads and Gardaí will be out in force across the City and County
14 road users have lost their lives and 64 people have been seriously injured over the June Bank Holiday weekend between 2016 and 2020.
Gardaí say they are particularly concerned about drink and drug driving and are reminding people to allow enough time before getting behind the wheel the next morning.
Speaking to RedFM News, Brian Farrell from the RSA says one in ten fatal crashes involving alcohol happen between 7am and 11am:
"You've got to realise that if you have been drinking a lot of alcohol the night before, you may not be able to drive, or you may not be safe to drive, until maybe lunchtime or after the following day. So, just to be aware of those dangerous because the morning after is a danger period for alcohol related fatal crashes."
